Mixed-use revitalization of Austin’s old Highland Mall gains momentum

More pieces are falling into place to transform the old Highland Mall site in North Central Austin.

A pair of four-story apartment buildings with 390 units combined and 25,000 square feet of retail are headed to the site, the Austin American-Statesman reports.

One of region’s biggest shopping centers delivers in Cedar Park — but it’s almost entirely leased up

For people who never venture up to Cedar Park about 30 minutes north of Austin, they might be surprised to learn that one of the largest retail developments in the area recently opened, adding 400,000 square feet of much-needed shops and restaurants to one of the area’s fastest-growing suburbs.

That’s almost half the size of Lakeline Mall.

Another downtown sky bridge likely: Hilton Austin project wins key approvals

A plan to connect the downtown Hilton Austin Hotel to the Austin Convention Center via a sky bridge — a proposal that a citizen commissioner last month worried might separate “the haves and the have-nots” — is gaining momentum at City Hall.

The Planning Commission voted 7-2 May 23 to recommend giving the project the green light. Austin City Council will weigh in next.

Uchi founder, high-profile architect bring creative offices to East Austin

Daryl Kunik has an uncanny sense of Austin cool. He’s the co-founder of the Uchi and Uchiko restaurants of national fame and has a passion for boutique real estate development.

As the founder and principal of Central Austin Management Group, Kunik and his partners are building Springdale General, a creative office development near Springdale Road and Airport Boulevard.

Austin AI real estate startup raises $27M, set to hire hundreds

Three firms have invested $27 million in Opcity Inc., an Austin-based real estate tech startup, company executives announced Wednesday.

The venture operates in the residential real estate market and uses artificial intelligence, proprietary data and analytics to connect agents with home sellers and ready-to-buy prospectors in real time.
