30+ Year CRE Veteran Steve Bassett Joins Foundry Commercial as Texas Market Leader

Foundry Commercial, a full-service real estate services and investment firm with offices across the Sun Belt is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Bassett to the position of Texas Market Leader with a primary focus on Foundry’s Dallas office.

With more than 30 years in the commercial real estate industry, Bassett is a proven leader in overseeing and growing regions, recruiting, and developing local service talent, focused on forging and nurturing relationships with clients throughout the Americas with a goal of delivering superior client outcomes. Most recently, he served as Global Account Executive at CBRE, overseeing a team that provided strategy formation, account management, and service delivery for the firm’s top institutional and private equity clients.

“Foundry Commercial offers the perfect blend of a well-established institutional-grade platform with a personal and entrepreneurial culture, a combination that immediately attracted me, as I have been interested in jumping back into the trenches for some time,” said Bassett. “Foundry is a grassroots company strategically built to serve clients in uncommon ways, allowing me to build something alongside people I genuinely respect and care for. Given my background overseeing top national client accounts, I look forward to strengthening existing relationships and forming new ones as part of the team.”

During his nearly 20-year tenure at CBRE, Bassett served as an Executive Managing Director as well as the U.S. Investor Services Business Development Leader and Office Leasing Practice Leader. Prior to that, he was the Executive Managing Director of Strategic Accounts, where he led teams focused on ensuring client strategies were achieved along with service delivery accountability. Bassett also served as Senior Vice President and Regional Director for JLL in the late 90s before he left to join CBRE (then Trammell Crow Company). During this time, he was tasked with growing the Denver, Utah, and Phoenix markets to better serve a growing and diverse client base.

“Foundry Commercial was founded 15 years ago by several former Trammell Crow executives who were looking to launch a different kind of real estate company. Having been a part of the Trammell Crow culture that so many of our associates grew up in, Steve was a natural fit for the Texas Market Leader position based in Dallas,” added Paul Ellis, CEO of Foundry Commercial. “Steve’s expertise in navigating the investment and partnership opportunities in the area make him an excellent fit for our growing Texas operations.”

In his role as Texas Market Leader, Bassett will be responsible for increasing the footprint of Foundry’s services platform in the greater Texas region with an emphasis on the Dallas-Fort Worth market. He will work with Foundry’s senior leadership team to expand Foundry’s service offering into other Texas markets. Building upon his decades of relationships and experience, he will forge new business growth with clients across brokerage, project management, and property/facilities management. In addition, Bassett will be working closely with Foundry’s Development & Investment platform to secure additional investment and partnership opportunities, while also supporting several strategic growth initiatives and offerings.

“With Steve at the helm, he’s going to turbo-charge both the services and development platforms of Foundry’s growing business in Texas and other target growth markets. We have developed a great business in Dallas over the years with outstanding clients and couldn’t be happier to have Steve leading us into this next season of growth as we continue to find ways to serve our clients in meaningful and impactful ways,” stated Charles Jonas, Senior Managing Director, Foundry Commercial.

Bassett is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where he also serves as an IOPC-Gold Council member. He also served through 2020 on BOMA International’s National Advisory Council (NAC).
