H-E-B Grocery Co. is opening a snack manufacturing plant in the Bayou City.

The San Antonio-based grocery store will open a 64,000-square-foot snack manufacturing plant at 10000 1/2 Genard Road, a spokesperson confirmed. The location is less than a mile away from an H-E-B distribution center at 4625 Windfern Road.

The grocer’s only other snack plant is in San Antonio. It manufactures potato, corn and tortilla chips 24 hours a day in a 40,0000-square-foot space, according to its website.

San Antonio-based Joeris General Construction, the Houston plant’s general contractor, filed a commercial construction permit for foundation and site work at the Genard Road location for $3.6 million.
