CBRE Raises $60,000 at Fifth Annual Austin Charity Golf Bash

AUSTIN, Texas – June 26, 2017 CBRE, a commercial real estate services firm, raised $60,000 at its annual Charity Golf Bash in Austin this year. The event is organized by the firm’s Austin employees and supports six nonprofit organizations.

“I’m proud of the hard work and dedication of the employees who volunteer their time for this event each year. Since 2013, our Austin employees have raised more than $215,000 for charity through philanthropic events,” said Scott Senese, senior managing director of CBRE’s Central Texas region.

This year’s event, held at TopGolf, benefits the following organizations:

  • Any Baby Can
  • Austin Habitat for Humanity, in support of CBRE’s Shelter Program
  • Boys & Girls Club of Austin
  • Combat Wounded Outdoors
  • Girlstart
  • Freedom14 Camp

“We couldn’t do this each year without the generous support and sponsorship from many of Austin’s real estate service providers. It’s rewarding to see everyone come together and raise funds for great causes that benefit our community,” said Elyse Kaire, CBRE Cares Austin co-chair and a senior operations analyst at the company.

This year’s event featured the largest silent auction to date, with goods and services valued at more than $20,000, as well as a raffle, golf with Topgolf pros, and a wine pull.

CBRE Foundation, a nonprofit, public benefit corporation that funds the company’s philanthropic initiatives, matched a portion of funds raised, further amplifying the event’s success.

Prime downtown Austin site to be transformed into 5-story office building

Some rezoning cases take forever to be resolved. Others happen in a couple of months. Take the case of a small stand-alone office building at 1108 Nueces St. in downtown Austin.

The 2,725-square-foot building, circa 1957, on about one-fourth of an acre will be torn down to make way for a 22,000-square-foot, five-story office building.

The entitlements were secured June 8 in an ordinance signed by Mayor Steve Adler. It doesn’t appear there are any Capitol view corridor issues that would hinder the 60-foot maximum height.

Shopping center slated for Southpark Meadows area; Austin’s retail scene remains red hot

Retail real estate in Austin is in short supply with a metro-wide vacancy of just under 4 percent, but another new development will be underway shortly near Southpark Meadows in far South Austin. Encore Enterprises, a Dallas-based real estate investment firm, has signed several tenants for its South Congress Station planned for 8900 S. Congress Ave. The move comes as retail product demand among Austin consumers remains strong — and rental rates for retail space soar amid a tight supply market, according to recently released data in Marcus & Millichap’s Retail Research Market Report.

Shovels turn on Transwestern’s expansive Southeast Austin industrial project

The area southeast of the I-35 and State Highway 71 flyovers isn’t usually top of mind when it comes to taking a leisurely drive to look at concrete industrial buildings. When you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all — usually.

Despite a softening in the industrial sector in the first quarter, the level of construction ratcheting up in that area is eye-catching. It shows that the more inconspicuous, but important, activity of distribution and manufacturing is in sync with tech and professional services business developments in the region.
