SVN | J. Beard Real Estate – Greater Houston has added Marshall Davidson as chief investment officer to its commercial real estate team.

As a designated Specialist in Industrial and Office Markets (SIOR) and a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Davidson leverages over 25 years of experience in real estate strategy, acquisitions, and development. His real estate career is underscored by the successful sourcing and securing of real estate assets across a diverse array of classes, including office, retail, multifamily, industrial, life science, medical-office, hospitality, and mixed-use properties.

In recent years, Davidson has channeled his expertise into meticulously curating portfolios of opportunistic, value-add commercial real estate assets across the dynamic economic landscape of Texas.

In his role as Chief Investment Officer, Davidson will discern opportunistic investment trends, source investment opportunities, and establish and maintain a high-performing acquisitions team. Serving to meet the needs of clients and investors for the J. Beard Team. As the overseer of the investment group, Davidson assumes a leadership role in pivotal decision-making processes related to acquisitions, dispositions, and investments. Furthermore, He will spearhead the identification of sources for debt and equity financing relationships for investors, and lead comprehensive underwriting and due diligence activities, deal structuring, and negotiations.

Colliers names director of national office research

Colliers | U.S. has hired Marianne Skorupski as director of national office research.

With a distinguished career that spans over two decades in commercial real estate research and strategy, Skorupski brings a wealth of knowledge and an innovative approach to Colliers | U.S., aimed at strengthening its research capabilities and providing cutting-edge insights into the office sector.

Before joining Colliers, Skorupski honed her expertise at Newmark, where she served as the Director of Research for the Southeast for eight years. In this role, she was instrumental in analyzing structural trends influencing Atlanta’s real estate performance and its interconnection with national market trends.

Prior to her tenure at Newmark, Skorupski contributed eight years of service as a Research Manager at CBRE, where she developed her foundational research skills and industry insights. Most recently, she embraced the role of Product Strategy Manager, further diversifying her skill set and reinforcing her ability to adapt and innovate in the ever-evolving real estate landscape.

Colliers hires vice president in Austin office

Colliers added vice president Stuart Baker as an office and industrial occupier services and investments sales broker in its Austin, Texas, office.

He brings over a decade’s worth of commercial real estate experience in Central Texas to Colliers.

Prior to joining Colliers, Baker held positions at international and local firms, including Newmark, Elevate Growth Partners and Cresa. Examples of his work include Hippo Insurance’s downtown Austin headquarters in 2022, Virtex Enterprise’s Austin headquarters in 2021, and Cesium Astro’s Austin headquarters in 2019.

Other clients include Boston National Title, Ping Identity and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Baker studied business and economics at Texas Christian University and graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina in Asheville. Additionally, he takes pride in community involvement, serving displaced populations in Austin, mentoring young professionals and entrepreneurs, sponsoring local artists and musicians, and working within the local startup ecosystem to support service and growth strategies.

BKV Group adds director of interior design to Dallas office

BKV Group, a multidisciplinary design firm, hired Melanie N. Hanna as director of interior design and senior associate in the company’s Dallas practice site.

In this role, Hanna will support the firm’s continued growth, with a concentration in the corporate and hospitality sectors both in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and across the Sun Belt, partnering with clients to create immersive environments reflective of their brands.

Hanna brings 17 years of experience in interior design and brand strategy, most recently as a senior project designer and senior associate at BOKA Powell, where she specialized in corporate interiors and helped to launch the firm’s hospitality studio, 8080.

A proponent of creating rich design narratives to elicit emotion and establish a distinct sense of place, Hanna’s extensive portfolio includes corporate, historic preservation, civic, healthcare, education, religious and hospitality projects, such as Venetian Macau Parcel 5 & 6 including Shangri-La, Traders and Sheraton Hotels in Macau, China, and the Waterloo Park Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton in Austin. More recently, she was part of the design team behind the renovation of International Plaza III, a 13-story office tower in Dallas, and led the design of Roam Grandscape, a hospitality-driven coworking space in Grandscape, Texas.

Hanna holds a B.S. in interior design and hospitality from Stephen F. Austin State University and has since earned several industry credentials and certifications. Her professional affiliations include American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Committee on Climate, Health, and Equity (CoCHE), CoreNet Global North Texas, Friends in Real Estate (FIRE), Ladies in CRE (Dallas + Addison), and MILEstone 2024-25 Designer Advisory Council.

JLL adds managing director for North Texas retail group

JLL has appointed of Michael Wheat as managing director of the North Texas retail group, marking a significant step in the expansion of retail services across Dallas-Fort Worth.

With over 25 years of real estate experience, Wheat brings a wealth of knowledge to drive growth in the Dallas retail market, focusing on landlord and tenant representation.

Prior to joining JLL, Wheat served as the Managing Director, overseeing leasing for the portfolio of the United States at Cypress Equities. During his tenure, he managed leasing and asset management efforts for a portfolio encompassing 10.5 million square feet. Additionally, his distinguished career includes notable positions at Trammell Crow Company and The MG Herring Group, where he represented renowned clients such as OshKosh, Chico’s, Citibank, and Sears.

KAI adds engineering design manager in Dallas-Fort Worth office

KAI has hired Lydie Mizele as Engineering Design Manager in the Engineering Group at its Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, office.

Mizele has more than 14 years of industry experience in all aspects of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and energy calculation design. Her extensive portfolio includes retail, hospitality, education, healthcare, government and renovation projects, including the $3 million renovation of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital HEB in Bedford, TX; construction of Tanger Outlets in Fort Worth, TX; and multiple CVS Pharmacy, 7-Eleven and Planet Fitness locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Prior to KAI, Mizele was an MEP Project Manager at The Dimension Group in Dallas, MEP Project Manager at GHC Engineers in Dallas, and MEP Designer & Project Manager for Don Penn Consulting Engineer in Westlake, Texas.

A native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mizele has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of North Texas – Denton and an Associate of Science in Architecture from Columbus State Community College in Ohio.

She and her husband Jerry have three children, and she enjoys volunteering in ministry to help children around the world. She enjoys reading the Bible and her favorite sport is golf.
