Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is pleased to announce Managing Principal Dan Herman, AIA, LEED GA, as their Texas Market Lead. Balancing his time between the firm’s LA and Austin offices, Dan manages an active roster of projects in both cities. Leading the firm’s growing Texas practice and their recently-opened office in downtown Austin, Dan’s current local projects include: Verde Square with Karlin Real Estate and Ironwood Real Estate in Austin and 2500 Cedar Springs in Dallas, a 1.4 million SF mixed-use development in the Uptown district with Lincoln Property Company. Dan has also worked extensively in Houston, including several developments in the Galleria area. Outside of Texas, Dan continues to manage large-scale projects in Los Angeles, Toronto and Mexico, including several film and television production studios as well as large-scale mixed-use master plans. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and AIA.

J. Wes Cegelski promoted to Principal at TBG Partners

A Principal based in TBG’s Houston office, Wes is a talented designer and project manager with nearly 20 years’ experience working throughout the United States and internationally. His responsibilities encompass everything from staff coordination to overseeing projects from initial design to construction. Additionally, he has been integrally involved with Scenic Houston’s efforts to establish a Streetscape Resource Guide for greater Houston and the Houston/Gulf Coast chapter of Texas ASLA.

Alanna Carter hired at Gensler

Alanna Carter joins Gensler as the Regional Healthcare Practice Area Leader. Her design expertise spans hospital campuses, research centers, senior living facilities and specialty clinics. Alanna will lead the growth of the region’s portfolio of work, such as in healthcare-anchored districts, as well as training for the next generation of healthcare designers. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis with degrees in Architecture, Construction Management & Interior Design.

Courtney Ray promoted to Vice President, Marketing at Brookfield Properties

Courtney Ray transitioned to Vice President of Marketing at Brookfield Properties Houston, effective March 1, 2024. Courtney has served as Director of Marketing since 2022, leading internal and external marketing strategies across the 10-million-square-foot commercial real estate portfolio. In this role, Courtney will continue implementing strategies that position Brookfield Properties’ portfolio as essential assets to downtown Houston that attract and retain top companies and talent.

Glorieni Azeredo hired at Barron Adler Clough & Oddo, PLLC

Glorieni Azeredo has joined Barron, Adler, Clough & Oddo, bringing a diverse expertise in eminent domain law, transportation litigation, employment law, and commercial law. Throughout her career, she has brought five cases to jury trial, secured two appellate victories, and participated in hundreds of Special Commissioners hearings. She previously served as the Houston area team lead for the Texas Attorney General’s Office’s Transportation Division.

Whit Friend hired at American Structurepoint

American Structurepoint welcomes Whit Friend as our new Texas Road Group Leader. He will lead the firm’s road design practice throughout Texas and enhance our Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and municipal client capabilities and relationships. Whit has 25 years of extensive experience in engineering, planning, design, construction oversight, alternative delivery, and program management services for state, municipal, toll, and regional mobility authorities.
