Newmark expands Ran Holman’s strategic oversight with appointment to Southeast Market Leader

Dallas, TX — Newmark announces the expansion of Ran Holman’s role to Southeast Market Leader. Holman’s strategic oversight now broadens to include business management and performance across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee, in addition to Texas.

Ian Zapata joins Corgan as Director of Design, championing aesthetic excellence and high-design

DALLAS – Global architecture and design firm Corgan is pleased to announce that Ian Zapata has joined the firm as its Director of Design—a role that will champion the firm’s leadership in design and innovation within the global design community. As Director of Design, Zapata will continue to advance Corgan’s design philosophy whilehelping imbed elevated, data-driven, and sustainable design principles in the firm’s work across sectors including aviation and mobility, data centers, education, government, health, mixed-use, multifamily, office, and workplace.
Zapata’s appointment at Corgan is, in many ways, a homecoming — he began his career as an architectural intern with the firm more than 25 years ago. With a portfolio spanning design and planning for airport, hotel, office, and corporate headquarters projects, he brings multifaceted experience to the role. Zapata states, “At its core, design is about human experiences, and everything we create is built around that principle.” He leaned on this as he led a global practice focused on building transformation and revitalizing cities, creating work destinations that drive engagement, and advancing carbon-neutral design. A registered architect and LEED AP, Zapata has served on the board of the Dallas Architecture Forum since 2012 and has been president of the board and chair of the Dallas Design Symposium. He earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M University.

Colliers adds SVP in Austin office

Colliers has added Wes Babb to its Austin, Texas, office as Senior Vice President.

With over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, Babb brings deep expertise in retail development, investment brokerage, and tenant and landlord representation.

Before joining Colliers, Babb was Senior Vice President at SRS Real Estate Partners, specializing in commercial land sales, retail property development, leasing of shopping centers and mixed-use projects, and representation of tenants in their site selection and lease space needs. Earlier in his career, Babb held leadership roles with Weitzman and Lincoln Property Company, managing retail divisions across the Austin and San Antonio regions. These roles solidified his reputation as an innovator and leader in the retail real estate sector.

Throughout his career, Babb has managed over 4 million square feet of transactions valued in excess of $600 million, including hundreds of lease transactions, purchase and sale transactions, and 50-plus pad site acquisitions for development in Austin and San Antonio. Notable projects in Central Texas include Shops at the Galleria, Frontier Crossing, Red Oak Village, and the Northcross Mall redevelopment.

JLL forms Energy Advisory and Sustainability practice

JLL is boosting its existing sustainability services by forming the Energy Advisory and Sustainability practice. Led by clean energy expert Josephine Tucker, the team works across JLL’s business lines and industries to serve real estate investors and commercial and public sector clients.

With core competencies across engineering; finance and procurement; energy modelling; and project and program management, the new practice helps clients meet ambitious sustainability goals while navigating uncertain energy markets, evolving regulation and increasing consumer expectations. A comprehensive team of Energy Advisory and Sustainability’s technical specialists provide expertise on energy sourcing; efficiency; and end-use optimization, including technology integration such as EV-charging, on-site/off-site renewables, battery storage and microgrid solutions.

The next few years are essential for building owners and occupiers to leverage the net-zero transition. According to JLL, successfully decarbonizing buildings depends on three main elements: energy efficiency, electrification and clean energy sources – all areas of specialty for the Energy Advisory and Sustainability practice.

As Americas Head of Energy Advisory and Sustainability, Tucker reports to Rishi. She joined JLL in 2022 to lead JLL’s Clean Energy and Infrastructure Advisory services to address aging infrastructure and provide renewable transaction services to clients. Prior to joining JLL, she amassed more than 15 years of experience in energy, real estate and transportation, with a focus on strategy, finance and economic analyses.
