Land Tejas Cos. is moving forward on Lago Mar, a new master-planned community in Texas City.

The Houston developer has finished developing about half of some 520 homes planned for the first phase of the 4,000-home community. Lago Mar — which represents Land Tejas’ first southeast Houston community and largest active community currently — sits on 2,033 acres straddling Interstate 45 at Holland Road, about 14 miles north of Galveston.

Land Tejas is partnering with eight homebuilders to develop the first homes in Lago Mar. Three of the builders — D.R. Horton, Gehan Homes and Westin Homes — have been announced so far, with the remainder expected to be announced closer to the community’s grand opening this fall.
