Midway Hires Jonathan Horowitz to Lead New In-House Hospitality Development Group

(HOUSTON, TX)—Midway is pleased to announce Jonathan Horowitz has joined the privately owned, fully integrated real estate investment, development, and management firm as Senior Vice President of Hospitality Development. Horowitz was hired to launch this new in-house capability for the firm, and will oversee the development, ownership, and management of new and existing restaurant concepts across Midway’s portfolio.

“Jonathan’s expertise coupled with his successful track record in the hospitality industry make him an incredible asset to our team,” says Brad Freels, Midway’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “He will excel in this position, and we are thrilled to have him on board to expand on our existing F&B investments and to create new in-house hospitality offerings.”

Horowitz has over 15 years of experience in restaurant and bar development. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President of Retail Services for Colliers International, after having launched Convive Hospitality Consulting, a Houston-based consulting company. He has also held a variety of leadership roles for companies that own and operate restaurants and bar concepts both inside and outside Texas. From concept creation and menu development to real estate site selection, design, construction and buildout, Horowitz has developed and implemented growth and expansion plans, developed budgeting strategies and overseen restaurant and bar concepts’ branding and marketing efforts. He has also directed the efforts of over 600 employees and overseen daily operations management. To the art of hospitality management, Horowitz brings his deep understanding of consumer trends that affect restaurant traffic patterns, including efficient restaurant operations, financial accountability, real estate selection, and the importance of building effective teams. Horowitz has long served as a member of the Texas Restaurant Association; he will assume the role of Vice Chairman of the board in 2022 and he served as the president of the Greater Houston Restaurant Association chapter from 2017-2019.

“I am very excited about joining the team at Midway – a company I have long admired, and one that has a proven track record of creating innovative and highly successful projects,” said Horowitz. “There exists a unique opportunity to further expand upon Midway’s hospitality holdings through organic growth, strategic partnerships, and potential acquisitions; I am looking forward to leading that effort.”

Horowitz is a licensed attorney, having practiced law at Chamberlain Hrdlicka and Haynes and Boone, LLP in Houston, as well as a licensed real estate agent. He earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law and his B.A. from Rice University.
