RealtyLink, based in Greenville, South Carolina, has announced the development of four new cold storage buildings across the Southeastern Unites States, including one in the Houston metro. Boyd Commercial/CORFAC International represented RealtyLink with securing land within the TGS Cedar Port Industrial Park in Baytown, Texas. The 272,000-square-foot development is expandable to 540,000 square feet and will be constructed within TGS Cedar Port Industrial Park. TGS Cedar Port is the largest master-planned rail-and-barge-served industrial park in the United States and spans 15,000 acres. David Boyd, CCIM, SIOR and co-managing principal with Boyd Commercial/CORFAC International, represented RealtyLink in the transaction. He, along with Dave Munson and Garrett Thomas, are also handling the marketing and leasing of the facility. Thomas Eldridge with RealtyLink is the lead developer on this project as well as others in Charleston, South Carolina, Wilmington, North Carolina and Mobile, Alabama. “These ports are vital gateways of trade and commerce and RealtyLink is building solutions for tomorrow’s cold chain,” said Eldridge. Houston is a vastly underserved port as it relates to cold storage. As the fifth largest MSA in the United States it has less than 40 percent of the cold storage capacity as that of #4 MSA, Dallas-Ft. Worth. The void in cold storage capacity, coupled with the aging infrastructure of the existing Houston cold product, prompted RealtyLink to proceed with building in the Houston market.
