The U.S. Census Bureau released its fastest-growing large cities report, with San Antonio topping the bureau population gains list. The number of people migrating to San Antonio from 2016-2017 was 24,208, an average of 66 people per day, noted Census demographer Amel Toukabri.
Meanwhile 10 of the 15 fastest-growing large cities were in the south, with seven in Texas. Houston, however, experienced a slowdown in growth. Texas demographer Lloyd Potter told the Texas Tribune that the reason for the decline could be attributed to the energy downturn and moves into the suburbs.
