$108M Virgin Hotel Dallas bringing lace-clad vision to Design District

When Dallas developer Bill Hutchinson began to describe the new Virgin Hotel Dallas project, he felt it was important to expose parts of it with the help of a lace-like exterior clinging to the building — which drove the design of the upscale hotel.

But perhaps one of the most interesting design features of the $108 million hotel development was inspired by a glossy white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

“One of the construction team members drove their new Jeep Grand Cherokee with a beautiful gloss automotive finish to the job site and Bill looked over and said, ‘I like the white Jeep,’ and we actually matched the color of the Jeep to the skin of the building,” said Scott Lowe, a principal at Dallas-based 5G Studio Collaborative, the project architect.
